Whoever said that Jews were smart or possessed an abundance of common sense never met many
of today’s American Jews and their supposed leaders. The leftist leaning, liberal Jewish establishment in America,
which has fawned over the Democratic party ever since Franklin Roosevelt instituted a flood of socialist initiatives
to combat the Great Depression in the 1930s, has marched in lock step with every socialistic concept put forth since
then and has continually opposed the capitalistic American ideals which have provided them with the wealth,
education, and religious freedom that Jews have enjoyed in very few other places on this planet. In order to prove
that they are totally assimilated, they go out of their way to champion numerous anti-Semitic, anti-Zionist, and
anti-Israel causes and organizations – they are afraid to appear to be “too Jewish”. These Jews may indeed be smart,
but they totally lack common sense.
In one manifestation of the rush of these Jewish elite to burnish their liberal credentials,
one thousand rabbis in late 2015 delivered a letter “to Congress calling on ‘our elected officials to uphold the
great legacy of a country that welcomes refugees.’ The leadership of virtually all of the Jewish defense
organizations, from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to the American Jewish Committee (AJC), have echoed these
demands to admit thousands of Syrian refugees.
“These Jewish leaders have betrayed the Jews of America. [Emphasis mine]
They prefer . . . parroting the views of a Democratic president to their duty to sound the alarm about the harm to
American Jews from bringing to the US Syrian Muslims, who have been raised in a culture of virulent anti-Semitism.
Seeing the destruction of Jewish life in Europe with the influx of Muslim immigrants from Arab countries, it would
not take much imagination for these so-called Jewish leaders to see what mass immigration of Arab Muslims will mean
for the safety of Americans and for American Jews in particular.
“. . . This influx may well explain the anti-Semitism now rife on many US campuses.
. .
“Rather than raising concerns that an Arab poll of Syrian refugees found that one in eight
were supportive of ISIS, these false representatives of the Jewish people opine that it is their role to raise the
Jews ‘beyond their narrow partisan views.’ Since when is concern for one's life ‘a narrow partisan view’?
“The Jewish Establishment has been guilt-tripped by a dishonest HIAS {Hebrew
Immigrant Aid Society} and J Street power play [Emphasis mine] that has grotesquely conflated the Syrian
Muslims with the Jews fleeing Nazi Germany in the 1930's. HIAS tugs on the heartstrings of the largely immigrant
Jewish community, pretending that it is the same organization supported by Jewish philanthropy which helped Jewish
immigrants in the 20th century. But it is not. HIAS is now virtually an arm of the US government, which as an NGO
government contractor stands to reap $100 million in its budget if it can get the US to admit the 100,000 Syrian
Muslims that it is petitioning the government to admit . . . ‘HIAS is now just a factory for importing hundreds of
thousands of anti-Semites to America.’
“J Street has supported every initiative that weakens US support for
Israel. [Emphasis mine] But there is more than one way to skin a cat. Increasing the electorate with
violently anti-Semitic Muslims, thus skewing some Congressional districts, is another way to accomplish its goals.
It, too, is demanding that the US admit 100,000 Syrian Muslims. And it is fund-raising for HIAS. . .
“If either of these groups, or any of the breast-beating Jewish Establishment, cared one
bit for the Syrians, they would be fighting for safe havens in Syria and no fly zones rather than making a show of
their crocodile tears for an infinitesimal percent of the 4 million Syrian refugees they want to admit to the US.
They would be petitioning for humanitarian aid to the Syrians in the camps in Muslim countries where they are now
safely living rather than fighting for money for HIAS's own coffers.
“But like the President, they do not care about the Syrians. If the President had cared
about the Syrian people, he would have enforced his famous red line when Assad was gassing and bombing his people.
He would have established no fly zones and safe havens. He would have vastly increased US humanitarian aid to the
millions of refugees now living in refugee camps in Turkey, Jordan, and Lebanon so that there would not be this
mass invasion of Europe. But Obama said that he wanted to fundamentally change America and this is just one more
crisis he is not letting go to waste in his campaign to reshape the West while vindicating the oppressed peoples
who were subject to its colonial, imperialist past.
- - -
“In the 1930's and 1940's, the Jewish Establishment was largely silent in the face of the
Holocaust because they did not want to be seen as raising ‘their narrow partisan concerns’ in the face of the war
effort. They have compounded their error by once again refusing to stand up for the survival of the American
Jewish community. The Jewish community has often compared America to the golden age in Spain and wondered if this
golden medina would end too. If it does, we will have the Jewish Establishment leadership to thank.”
(Ref. 1)
In still one more blatant example of J Street’s anti-Israel stance, “Members of a group
of Jewish supporters of the Democratic Party who met with President Barack Obama {in April 2015} urged him to remove
the long-standing American veto protection of Israel at the United Nations. The group, affiliated with the left-wing
lobby group J Street, pledged to support the president within the Jewish community in the event of a Security
Council resolution calling for the creation of a Palestinian State.” (Ref. 2)
Still more recently, America’s Jewish leaders have again lost their common sense
in rushing to oppose the newly elected Donald Trump. [Emphasis mine] They now are running around like
Chicken Little, screaming that “the sky is falling” and demonstrating a total lack of faith in the system of
democracy that has served America’s citizens so well for nearly 250 years.
“The Islamic Society of North America was named by the Justice Department as an unindicted
co-conspirator in funding Hamas. . was linked to two Hamas funding fronts, the Holy Land Foundation and KindHearts.
ISNA’s checks were made payable to the ‘Palestinian Mujahadeen’ or ‘Holy Warriors’ which was a name used by
Hamas.
“ISNA’s co-founder . . . was the local head of Palestinian Islamic Jihad and . . .
a top Hamas official listed by the Treasury Department as a Specially Designated Terrorist, received tens of
thousands of dollars from ISNA. [Emphasis mine]
“This should have come as no surprise as both ISNA and Hamas are arms of the Muslim
Brotherhood.
“But the American Jewish Committee has decided to team up with the financiers of the murder
of Jews to oppose Trump. The left wing Jewish group and an Islamist organization that wrote out checks to Islamic
terrorists enabling them to kill Jews have formed the ‘Muslim-Jewish Advisory Council’.
“Statements from both ISNA and the AJC made it clear that this was a reaction to Trump’s
win.
- - -
“The love affair that birthed the Wolf-Sheep Advisory Council is mostly unrequited. While
the AJC loudly trumpets its new friendship, as of this writing ISNA has yet to inform its brethren of the alliance
with the sons of apes and pigs in its news section. ISNA’s list of interfaith partners doesn’t even mention the
AJC.
- - -
“. . . The Muslim-Jewish Advisory Council is a sick sad joke in which Jewish lefties ally
with Jihadists against a pro-Israel administration while claiming that they share goals.
- - -
“Instead of representing the needs of the Jewish community, the AJC has dived into the
left-wing gutter, wailing against Trump and making alliances with the enemy to protect them from Trump.
- - -
“The joint group will, among other things, lobby for refugees. The remaining Jewish
refugees are fleeing Muslim violence and hate in Europe. If America is swamped by Muslim migrants the way Europe
was, where will American Jews flee all these “refugees” to?
- - -
“Instead of fighting anti-Semitism, the American Jewish Committee was allying with
anti-Semites.
“While Muslim hate groups supported by ISNA terrorize Jewish students on campuses, the AJC
expressed concern about ‘hate’ against Muslims on campuses.
“The media and left-wing groups are bombarding Jews daily with alarmist warnings about
Trump while urging them to ally with our Muslim ‘friends’. Here’s what an alliance with those friends looks
like.
“Left-wing groups like the AJC have sold out the Jewish community by taking the side of
Muslims over their Jewish victims. They have allied with Islamic hate groups supportive not of Jews, but of the
murder of Jews.
“And now they are screaming their heads off about Donald Trump.
Their Muslim friends . . . have defended anti-Semitism and attacked the Jewish State.
American Jews have a choice between trying to appease Hamas or fighting against it.”
(Ref. 3)
Smug, elitist, liberal and mostly Democratic “Court Jews” are abandoning their support for
the State of Israel and, at the same time, causing harm to their fellow co-religionists. “. . . For many years,
the liberal base of the Democratic Party has been steadily turning against the Jewish state. . .
- - -
“. . . On Capitol Hill, at least, most Democratic congressmen still stand with Israel. Out
in the grassroots, only a minority of Democrats continue to do so. . .” (Ref. 4)
To many Jews who ardently support Israel, America’s liberal Jews are viewed as being eager to
assimilate into the larger, pluralistic American culture, and naively dismissive of pervasive anti-Semitism now
spreading throughout Europe and on American college campuses.
While many Jews in Israel and the US still believe in the commitment of US Jewry
to Israel, liberal Jews have long since chosen the Democratic Party and their American identity over their Jewish
identity. They have already chosen their economic comfort, upscale social life, and liberal agenda over
the Jewish state. Consequently, it is understandable why the 2016 Democratic Party platform deleted the “Jerusalem
as capital of Israel” statement and other reassurances previously made to Israel regarding the Palestinian refugees,
Hamas, and borders. [5] American Jews are predominantly liberal
because they are still mindful of being outsiders, even when they are insiders. And, Liberals are by far Democrats.
For this reason, many American Jews vote Democratic, no matter whether or not the Democratic Party is less
supportive of Israel than the Republican Party and even if their position is less favorable to Jews in general.
This is why Back Obama defeated John McCain in 2008, in spite of Mr. McCain's long history of sympathy with Israel
which should have given him a distinct advantage over Mr. Obama, whose own history consisted of associating with
outright enemies of the Jewish state like the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and the historian Rashid Khalidi.
[6]
One reason some American Jews have turned their back on their fellow Jews and on Israel
was their blind obsessive love affair with Barack Obama and the Democratic socialistic ideal that he espoused. This
only reinforces the observation that, “for many years, the liberal base of the Democratic Party has been steadily
turning against the Jewish state.” (Ref. 7) “American Jews on the
left were beside themselves last week {2015}. Israel’s Jews did something that utterly infuriated these American
Jews: Israel’s Jews overwhelmingly voted for a man of the Right (or for other right-of-center parties). And not
just any right-winger, but the only leader in the Western world to publicly differ from their hero, President
Barack Obama.
“To understand their fury, one must first understand that no one is more certain of their
moral superiority than the Left. This is true the world over, and among Jews it is particularly so. For the leaders
of the American Jewish religious Left (Reform, Reconstructionist, and now Conservative Judaism), Jews who are
politically or socially conservative are a disgrace to Judaism, which, for left-wing Jews, is essentially the same
as leftism. Both religious and secular Jews on the left regard Jewish conservatives as moral traitors to the Jewish
people.
- - -
“As American Jews on the left see it, their moral credibility in the eyes of fellow
leftists in the news media, Hollywood, and academia is threatened by Israel. They must therefore make it abundantly
clear that a) they not only do not support the right-wing government of Israel; they do not even support Israel at
this time; b) they regard Benjamin Netanyahu as a vile human being; and c) they are ashamed — simply ashamed — of
Israel’s Jews for having voted for a right-winger.” (Ref. 8)
In addition to liberal elite Jews, there are groups masquerading as pro-Israel
organizations that claim to represent a large segment of American Jewry, J Street perhaps being the most
prominent. J Street and other similar organizations do not represent a large segment of the American Jewish
community and they are definitely not pro-Israeli. J Street’s claims that it is “pro-peace” and
“pro-Israel” are disingenuous, if not outright absurd. “With J Street, the issue is not merely its views but its
preposterous actions. . . {H}ow ridiculous it is to describe as ‘pro-Israel”’ an organization which actively lobbies
the US government to undermine the policies of the democratically elected government of Israel.”
(Ref. 9)
“While J Street may be presenting itself as an organization representing the ‘silent
majority’ of the Jewish community, in fact it may be something entirely different.
“This is strongly suggested in a remarkable video, originally made public by the
organization itself before being quickly removed from YouTube. . . {T}he fact {is} that much of J Street’s local
support comes from outside the Jewish community, therefore . . . undermining their claim to represent the real
opinions of the Jewish community . . . “ (Ref. 10)
Perhaps the biggest problem with J Street “isn’t its bullying, mischaracterization of
opponents, outrageous lobbying positions, or childish huffing and puffing. It’s their implicit rejection of
everything Zionism stands for.” (Ref. 10)
Jewish leaders supporting anti-Jewish organizations and causes are a constant pain for most
American Jews. “Jewish leaders and philanthropists, including UJA-Federation President Alisa Doctoroff; Karen R.
Adler, President of the Jewish Communal Fund and JCRC Board member; David Hochberg, Carole and Saul Zabar, Sally
Gottesman, Edith Everett and others are prominent donors to The New Israel Fund, an organization which funds BDS
and other anti-Israel initiatives.” (Ref. 11)
The New Israel Fund (NIF) is another organization that is reported as supporting
groups that hurt the State of Israel. The Executive Director of the Human Rights Defenders Fund (HRDF)
received an NIF grant of $332,625 and called Israel “racist,” and “murderous,” and described the country as a
“temporary Jewish apartheid state.” She also actively promoted the Palestinian “right of return.” Other NIF grant
recipients demand boycotts of the State of Israel, and contribute to gross Anti-Semitism. NIF actively supports
organizations which harass Israeli soldiers while on duty at checkpoints.
“The New Israel Fund annual report is a study in those who seek to fund campaigns which
support boycotts of Israel, supporting Anti-Semitism on campus, and prosecuting Israeli war crimes.” and is “a
controversial foundation that supports dozens of Israel related causes, many of which are considered hostile to
the Jewish State.” (Ref. 11)
NIF contribute to gross Anti-Semitism by funding
campaigns for Breaking the Silence who tour college campuses to accuse Israel of war crimes. NIF and similar
organizations are outside the consensus. As the Algemeiner Journal reported, the New Israel Fund is “a controversial
foundation that supports dozens of Israel related causes, many of which are considered hostile to the Jewish
State.”[11]
The New York Times, with its vestigial Jewish ownership, provides further proof that some
of America’s Jewish leaders have betrayed both their fellow Jews and the Jewish State of Israel. “On the news pages
{of the New York Times}, where readers expect objective and balanced reporting, criticism of Israel was cited more
than twice as often as criticism of the Palestinians. The Palestinian perspective on the peace process was laid out
nearly twice as often as the Israeli perspective.” . . . “The theme of faulting Israel was amplified on the editorial
and op-ed pages to one of Israel as a malignant force in the region.” . . . “{This} follows a long history
of similar distortions, dating back to the1930's when The New York Times downplayed the Nazi persecution,
and later, genocide of European Jews in order to avoid being seen as a ‘Jewish’ newspaper.” [Emphasis
mine] (Ref. 12)
Elsewhere we are told that, “The New York Times has become the official
paper of Israel’s Western would-be eradicators.” [Emphasis mine] . . . “As in the 1930's, when the New
York Times downplayed the Nazi genocide of European Jews in order to avoid being seen as a ‘Jewish’ newspaper,
today Thomas Friedman, Roger Cohen (the dupe of Tehran) and Nicolas Kristof are the Jewish journalists who have been
leading the charge in demonizing Israel and unabashedly praising the ‘Arab Spring’ and Iran's ‘pragmatism’.” . . .
“The Times consistently ignores the genocidal anti-Semitism that governs Hamas and Hizbullah, described
therein as ’militant’ groups concerned with the social welfare of Palestinians and Lebanese. The Times'
articles from Jenin, Nablus, Tulkarem and Bethlehem during the Second Intifada could have been written about the
Taliban in the Afghan caves. These depicted the Palestinian terrorists as freedom fighters meeting their noble
fate.” . . . “That favorable press in the New York Times encourages the Arabs to believe they can get away
with murder is a given. By reinforcing the Islamic claim that those who died on the Temple Mount were martyred
defenders of holy places, mowed down by savage, unprovoked Israeli authorities, the New York Times also
helped inflame millions of Muslims against Israel. By calling the area ‘Muslim compound’ and omitting any mention
of the Temple Mount or its Jewish connection, the New York Times convinced the world that Ariel Sharon had
intruded upon a site holy solely to Islam, helping to trigger the second Intifada.”
(Ref. 13)
What is wrong with the purported leaders of America’s Jews? One possible explanation is
that American Jewish leaders are far more sensitive to rocking the boat than other minorities or mainstream
Americans. On the other hand, “many committed American Jews at the grass-roots level are passionate and willing to
speak out and condemn politicians, including their president, and are becoming increasingly vocal in their demands
for community leaders to speak up. However, the situation is further fragmented by the increasing number who define
themselves as secular, or intermarried Jews, and have no commitment to Judaism or to Israel. Most of these
individuals have abandoned any semblance of Jewish identity and became absorbed into the American melting pot.
- - -
“All of this suggests that if . . . the various Jewish organizational bodies {and their
leaders} continue maintaining their policy of ‘shtadlanut’ – silent, court-Jew diplomacy – it is time for American
Jews at the grassroots level to become more assertive and make their presence felt.”
