Arab and Moslem Leaders Lie

Arab and Moslem Leaders Lie

Arab Leaders

Arab and Moslem leaders lie. They lie to the people they control, they lie to their adversaries, they lie to those who would help them, they lie to their fellow Arabs, they lie to their co-religionists, and they even lie to themselves! Perhaps what is even more bizarre is the fact the many, if not most, of the people over which these Arab despots and Moslem theocrats rule accept their lies as truths. Unfortunately, the same can be said about too many in the west who are neither Moslem nor Arab, including academics, political leaders, and the simply naïve and compliant.

We here in the West simply ignore or laugh at many Arab/Moslem ridiculous perversions of fact and reality. But, the truth is that all too many Arabs and Moslems, the “Arab Street”, accept these ridiculous claims as actuality. “Many still deny that a Jewish people exists, that a Holocaust occurred, or that Jews have lived in the land for centuries.” (Ref. 1-Page339) Certainly, many of the lies spread throughout the Arab and Moslem world come from the leaders and clerics, but “in the Middle East the media often serve to spread {these} falsehoods and deepen ignorance.” (Ref. 1-Page341) Except in Israel, there is little to no freedom of the press throughout the Arab and Moslem world.

Some of the more persistent lies perpetuated by Arabs, Moslems and others since the creation of the State of Israel are:

The “Palestinian people” have an historic connection to the land of Palestine. In truth, the Romans changed the name of Israel to Palestine and, at that time, the people living there were Jews, not Arabs. Consequently, the true Palestinian people were originally all Jews. What today is referred to as the Palestinian people never existed unless one is referring to the Jews who inhabited Palestina following the Roman name change. Interestingly, under the British Mandate, all residents of the mandate, Jews and Arabs alike were designated by the British as Palestinians.

The Palestinian people have been in the land from time immemorial. The “Palestinian people” have never existed until concocted in opposition to the State of Israel after 1948. From the time of Jesus, Palestine was a forgotten, desolate wasteland inhabited by a remnant of Jews, some Christians, and wandering Bedouins. For confirmation, see comments about Palestine in the 19th century in the book by Mark Twain, “The Innocents Abroad or The new Pilgrim’s Progress” and read Winston Churchill’s written comments about Palestine in the early 20th century.

There were no Jews in Palestine until Israel became a state in 1948. This is an unbelievably blatant untruth. While there is abundant evidence that the Romans officially banished the Jews from Israel (Palestine) in 135 CE, there is undeniable historical and archaeological evidence showing that there was always a Jewish presence in the land dating back nearly 5000 years.

19th and 20th century returning Jews displaced the Palestinian Arabs then living in Palestine. In reality, returning Jews reclaimed the land and created jobs that attracted Arabs to Palestine where they could find work. Other Arabs came to Israel to escape the slave-like labor of building the Suez Canal. The ancestors of most of the present-day Arab population actually migrated to the land only after Jewish pioneers began to restore Palestine to its orignal condition as the “land of milk and honey”.

The Jews stole Arab land. Jews returning to Palestine settled on unclaimed, unoccupied land or bought the land from absentee Arab landowners who had been exploiting the residents of their properties.

The Jews forced Arabs to flee Palestine. When Israel was declared a state in 1948, leaders from the surrounding Arab countries declared war on Israel and instructed the Arabs living in the land to flee until the Jews were annihilated. Israeli leaders, to no avail, urged the Arabs to stay. True, in a few cases, Arabs were driven from their homes and villages by the Jews. In most cases, Israel offered compensation to those displaced Arabs. The Arab countries have never taken in those Arabs that fled Israel under their urging nor have they ever contributed significantly to their support.

Refuting the Arab lie that the Palestinians were forced out of their homes by Israel in 1948 are the following excerpts from Israel’s declaration of independence: “THE STATE OF ISRAEL . . . will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants [Emphasis mine]; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants [Emphasis mine] irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and it will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.”

WE APPEAL - in the very midst of the onslaught launched against us now for months - to the Arab inhabitants of the State of Israel to preserve peace and participate in the upbuilding of the State on the basis of full and equal citizenship and due representation in all its provisional and permanent institutions.” [Emphasis mine] (Ref. 2)

In marked contrast to the plight of the Arab refugees created during Israel’s war of independence, nearly a million Jews were driven out of their homes in Arab countries, where they had lived peaceably for two thousand years, with no compensation whatsoever. Israel immediately took in these refugees from Arab countries and integrated them into the newly formed State of Israel. “Between 1949 and 1954 about 800,000 Jews were forced to flee from the Arab and Muslim lands where they had lived for hundreds and even thousands of years – from Iraq, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan and Iran. These Jews were peaceful citizens of their Arab countries and in no way a hostile population. Nonetheless, they were forced at gun-point to flee with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The only reason for their expulsion was revenge against the Jewish citizenry of Arab countries for the shame of the Arab defeat in their war of aggression.” (Ref. 3)

Israel is an Apartheid State. This lie is readily refuted by the facts. Admittedly, the Arab minority in Israel has special challenges over and above the usual minority difficulties due to the security situation. However, Israeli Arabs study in universities with Jewish students, shop in the same malls, take the same buses, run their own political parties with members in the Israeli Knesset, have become famous athletes, have won Miss Israel competitions and even served as Supreme Court Judges. Where else in the Middle East, other than in Israel, are Moslems, Christians, Druze, Circassians, Bahai, Samaritans all welcomed and guaranteed the right to practice their religion as they see fit?

The posit that Arab leaders lie - lie to the masses, lie to their fellow Arabs, and even lie to themselves - is demonstrated by the boast made by Egypt’s air force commander in December of 1966 that, “We possess the most powerful air weapon in the Middle East. Our bombers, armed with missiles, our modern fighters – are capable of destroying Israel’s airfields and planes.” . . . “In fact, not just the air force but the entire Egyptian army was in deplorable condition.” (Ref. 1-Page37) Shortly thereafter, a pair of Egyptian MIG fighters strayed over Israel and were shot down by the Israeli Air force, demonstrating the falsehood inherent in this claim. The lie was further exposed six months later when nearly the entire Egyptian air force was destroyed by Israel in the first few hours of the Six Days War.

In another example of blatant lying and falsification, after 4 Syrian MIGs had been shown down over Damascus in early 1967, Syrian radio announced that “their heroic eagles had shot down five Israeli planes.” (Ref. 1-Page 47) But the truth was evident to all citizens of Damascus who had witnessed the dogfight and as Israeli fighter aircraft made a victory loop around the city.

Former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak took note of the Arab/Moslem propensity to prevaricate with no feeling of regret or guilt when he was quoted as saying: “Palestinians have no compunction about telling lies and see truth as irrelevant”. . . .
" ‘They are products of a culture in which to tell a lie... creates no dissonance . . . They don't suffer from the problem of telling lies that exists in Judaeo-Christian culture.’
"Truth is seen as an irrelevant category . . . There is only that which serves your purpose and that which doesn't. They see themselves as emissaries of a national movement for whom everything is permissible. There is no such thing as 'the truth'. “ (Ref. 4)

The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) addressed this “It’s O.K. to lie” attitude of Arabs/Moslems in a formerly confidential report, titled, 'Face' Among the Arabs. (Ref. 5) Extracted (and abstracted) from the report are the following:

“George Washington, American children are told, having cut down his father's favorite cherry tree, showed his sterling character by confessing to the deed. An Arab hearing this story not only fails to see the moral beauty of such behavior but wonders why anyone would ever compromise his integrity by admitting thus his guilt. As to Washington's explanation that ‘I cannot tell a lie,’ the Arab asks how a man could rise to the presidency if he were not suave enough to use a well-concocted falsehood as a tactic in emergency behavior.

“For {an} American, earning social acceptability by maintaining his honor is a matter of equating honor with personal integrity. The American manifests his integrity by an uncompromising willingness to face objective truth and fact. Personal respect and acclaim go to him who makes a ruthless search for facts regardless of how self-damaging the results may be.

“The American can apologize for revealed shortcomings and gain respect and prestige with an honest effort to correct his own errors. In our culturally determined scale of values the achieving of impersonal objectivity with regard to facts and truth is thus more important than preserving a man's personal dignity before the world at large. At all times and in all circumstances the American is culturally obliged to reconcile his position and his person with truthfully interpreted reality . . . .

“The Arab in his society is likewise expected to show personal integrity in order to be socially acceptable. He, however, manifests his honor and integrity by making a public, outward impression of dignity derived from an ostensible lack of guilt. Even if facts and conditions speak to the contrary, the social veneer of non-guilt must be maintained evident and dominant if he is to achieve the socially demanded face. Dignity and stature are granted only to those who show themselves as flawless; the society of the Arab world has no place or respect for one whose faults or errors come to public knowledge. Blame, fault, or error accruing to an Arab personally brings his immediate fall from social grace and a loss of dignity or face . . .

“. . . Facts and circumstances can combine in many different ways to reflect unfavorably upon any man, but the Arab cannot afford to allow accrued facts or logic to impute any flaw or guilt to him personally. In self-defense he must interpret the assembled facts subjectively, deny them outright, or reject as illogical any construction that leads to intimations of personal shortcomings. To the American this defense is non-objective, a distortion of truth . . .

“. . . In the dynamics of the Arab social system dignity or face is not compromised for the sake of the lesser values found in fact and logic.

“In Western cultures a fact is an objective absolute not subject to mutation through human interpretation. But the Arab mentality treats fact and truth as relative, to some extent a projection of the mind for the benefit of the self or ego. With this subjective processing the facts become what the Arab emotionally wants to believe is true. They can thus be made to mesh harmoniously with criteria which stand higher on the value scale because connected with the maintenance of face. Neither facts nor their connotations can stand up against the Arab's facade of personal dignity or be arrayed to form an attack on his surrogate of face.

“During the Israeli invasion of Sinai in October 1956, the Saudi Arabs in the oil fields along the Persian Gulf felt personal concern about the plight of their Egyptian brothers. In one instance some of those at a particular plant were much worried about a news item to the effect that in three days of fighting Israeli troops had captured five thousand Egyptians. They held a powwow, buzzing and chattering about it among themselves. After some time, however, the group broke up and all went away looking relieved and happy. Asked how they had resolved their anxiety, one of the more articulate explained that they had decided Israeli troops could never have captured 5,000 of anything, even sheep, in the Sinai region. Therefore the story was not true, and that ended the matter. All was right with the world again.

“Knowledgeable Arabs realize that their people and countries fall in some measure short of the progress and development that some other nations have achieved. Unable to find themselves at fault for this, they are naturally led to seek the cause of their troubles in outside sources-the will of Allah, the imperialists, Israel, family and personal obligations, and many real wrongs which have been done them. This saves the collective face from appearing defective and allows those who can accept subjectively interpreted facts to maintain their sense of personal dignity and self-confidence.

“The lack of objective self-analysis in the Near East generally permits a type of boasting which is honest in that there is no real discrepancy between an Arab's outward show of, say, fantastic courage and his true feelings. In the absence of analysis he does not realize that he has weaknesses and could not perform accordingly. Unending talk of courageous endeavor and boasting his own virtues in order to give himself faith in his surrogate of face may make the Arab seem insincere to the Westerner; but if the latter challenges his boasts the two are brought to an impasse. The Arab could not be made to recognize his own weakness, and even if he could he would not admit the threat to his dignity.

“In any situation in which shame or guilt threatens the Arab he will be able to explain away whatever impinges on his personal dignity with an array of facts that are meant to be accepted by he listener and not challenged. Whether the story is believed or not and whether the facts are objective or logical are secondary considerations. . .

To deceive and to lie are not negatively perceived in the Arab and Moslem world, especially if it preserves an Arab’s honor and dignity. “In the Arab world ‘honor’ and ‘face’ are so closely related that the words are almost interchangeable. This ‘face,’ or ‘honor,’ is such an integral part of the Arab mind that a person is considered perfectly justified in resorting to deceit and falseness in order to “whiten,” or save, their own, someone else’s or the entire Arab world’s face.” [Emphasis mine]
“Arab lying, like Arab hospitality, generosity and raiding, is an echo from the past, as made clear by an early Islamic theologian: ‘We must lie when truth leads to unpleasant results’ . . . ‘It is sometimes a duty to lie’ . . . ‘If a lie is the only way to reach a good result, it is allowable’ . . . And a medieval Syrian poet also wrote: ‘I lift my voice to utter lies absurd, for when I speak the truth, my hushed tones scarce are heard' . . . Lying, therefore, has been a normal, integral, prevalent and perfectly acceptable facet of Arab culture since time immemorial. And until the West, its leaders and its politicians understand the full implications of this reflex action of the Arab mind when dealing with members of the Arab world, they can never hope to arrive at the results they aim for. . . .” (Ref. 6)

Lying is one thing, but perhaps the most incredible thing about the Arab’s and Moslem’s ability to lie and their unlimited creativity in conjuring up the preposterous, is that they, themselves, all too often sincerely believes the lies they create.[6] Many of the lies told by Arab leaders and Moslem clerics are obviously preposterous untruths to any thinking person, yet these blatant falsehoods are readily accepted as gospel by the Arab and Moslem masses, the so-called “Arab Street.”

To lie to one’s enemy or adversary is one thing, but to lie to one’s fellow Arabs and fellow co-religionists in a time of conflict is incomprehensible to the Western and Judeo-Christian mind. Yet that is precisely what transpired during Israel’s Six Day 1967 war with Egypt, Jordan and Syria. Jordan entered the war “because the commander of Egypt’s forces sent a coded communique to King Hussein claiming that Egypt had destroyed 75 percent of Israel’s attacking warplanes, destroyed Israel’s bases in a counterattack, and that its ground forces had penetrated Israel itself . . . {In reality} Israel {had} almost entirely destroyed Egypt’s air force . . . But on the strength of repeated Egyptian claims of massive victories, Jordan entered the war and not only added the loss of its air force to that of {Egypt}, but also lost more territory than {Egypt and Syria} combined. King Hussein of Jordan said: ‘These [Egyptian] reports -- fantastic to say the least -- had much to do with our confusion and false interpretation of the situation’ “(Ref. 6)

We here in the West are naively shocked when the Arabs and Moslems ignore facts and the truth and tell outright lies. And it seems that many of our national politicians are among the most naïve – they cannot believe that fellow statesmen would have such poor grace as to actually lie to them. Yet we have so many examples, not just of the “Arab Street” telling or believing lies, but of Arab governments, Moslem leaders and the Arab press prevaricating as well.

In Islam, “There are two forms of lying to non-believers that are permitted under certain circumstances, taqiyya and kitman. These circumstances are typically those that advance the cause of Islam - in some cases by gaining the trust of non-believers in order to draw out their vulnerability and defeat them.”
"Taqiyya is saying something that isn't true while Kitman – is lying by omission."[7]

“Though not called Taqiyya by name, Muhammad clearly used deception when he signed a 10-year treaty with the Meccans that allowed him access to their city while he secretly prepared his own forces for a takeover. The unsuspecting residents were conquered in easy fashion after he broke the treaty two years later, and some of the people in the city who had trusted him at his word were executed.” (Ref. 7)

Quite simply “Taqiyya” is the Islamic doctrine of deceit to defend and promote Islam. It has been ingrained into the Arab and Moslem culture since the time of Muhammad and is practiced today not only to defend and promote Islam, but also to keep Arab dictators in power, to placate the “Arab Street”, and quite often to turn unrest toward convenient scapegoats, e.g., Israel, Jews, “the Great Satan”, etc.

“Taqiyya is ‘concealing or disguising one's beliefs, convictions, ideas, feelings, opinions, and/or strategies at a time of imminent danger, whether now or later in time, to save oneself from physical and/or mental injury.’ A one-word translation would be ‘dissimulation.’ . . .
      - - -
“Practically, taqiyya is any form of lying, deceit, misleading, half-truths or related practices condoned by Islamic doctrine to further the growth of Islam or to protect the individual from harm . . .” (Ref. 8)

“. . . the circumstances by which Muhammad allowed a believer to lie . . . are limited to those that either advance the cause of Islam or enable a Muslim to avoid harm to his well-being (and presumably that of other Muslims as well). . . . this should be kept very much in mind when dealing with matters of global security, such as Iran's nuclear intentions . . .” [Emphasis mine] (Ref. 7)

Mahmoud Abbas is head of the Palestinian Authority (PA) governing the West Bank and of Fatah, the military wing of the PA. Under Abbas, the PA has not held formal elections since 2006 and only maintains control in the West Bank after being ousted from Gaza by Hamas in 2007. Abbas has maintained a security relationship with Israel out of a shared fear of Hamas. Many fear that if an election were held today, Hamas, which won the last election in 2006, would beat out Abbas’s Fatah party once again. Many Palestinians cite Fatah’s notorious legacy of financial and administrative corruption as their reason for supporting Hamas.[9]

Mahmoud Abbas is a poster boy for Arab lying and deceit. He says one thing to the westerners and exactly the opposite to his Arab audience. He will profess to be seeking peace to the western dupes he addresses while inciting his “Arab Street” to still more violence.

While much of Abbas’s duplicity and disinformation is meant for the Arab world, he also hopes that Europe and the West will believe his lies and apply pressure on Israel. Unfortunately, there are far too many willing idiots in the west that buy into Abbas’s fabrications and who indulge in wishful thinking rather than in being realistic and drawing conclusions from the incontrovertible facts and reality “. . . {Abbas] hopes that the rest of the world, especially the Muslim world, will be so up in arms by the lies that that they will rise up and crush Israel and all of her supporters.” (Ref. 10)

“Abbas gave a speech on October 14th—and it was all based on lies.” (Ref. 10)

In the most recent example of spouting untruths and urging additional cold-blooded murders and violence, “Mr. Abbas claimed that Israel executed {a} 13 year old Palestinian boy and were ‘executing’ Palestinian children. Subsequently, the official PA translation toned down the word ‘executions’ and replaced it with ‘cold blooded murder.’ He held up the picture of the boy, on the ground, after having been shot, he said, by Israelis.
      - - -
“What Mr. Abbas neglected to mention is that the boy . . . and his 15 year old cousin . . . had, moments before that picture was taken, stabbed two Israeli boys. . . {That} Israeli boy is critically wounded and fighting for his life.
“What Mr. Abbas {also} did not say is that {the Palestinian boy} is alive, with no threat to his life. He is being treated at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem. Mr. Abbas, the man who is supposed to be the partner in peace of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, knowingly and in good conscious lied. And it was a whopper. [Emphasis mine]
“In that same speech Mr. Abbas also said that the Israelis are trying to change the status quo on the Temple Mount. He said that: ‘The Israeli attack against our people, our land, and the holy places threatens peace and stability’ … ‘We have said it clearly: We will not accept a change in the status quo at al-Aqsa Mosque that would damage its sanctity and its character’ … ‘It is our right to continue our peaceful struggle in order to achieve our independence, and our victory will come.’
“ ‘Our peaceful struggle.’ Did he actually use those words?” (Ref. 10)

Previously, (16 September 2015) Abbas had used the following words: “[The] Al-Aqsa [mosque on the Temple Mount] is ours and so is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. They (Israelis) have no right to desecrate them with their filthy feet. We won’t allow them to do so and we will do whatever we can to defend Jerusalem.” . . . “Each drop of blood that was spilled in Jerusalem is pure blood as long as it’s for the sake of Allah. Every shahid (martyr) will be in heaven and every wounded person will be rewarded, by Allah’s will.” (Ref. 9)

“Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas - often lauded in the international community as a ‘peace partner’ for Israel . . . called for terrorist ‘martyrs’ to prevent ‘filthy’ Jews from visiting the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism.” (Ref. 11)

While lying to the western world about wanting to reach a “peaceful” agreement with Israel over the status of the West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem, Abbas, at the same time, was calling for murder and terror from his Arab audience. Abbas was taking full advantage of the Islamic justification for deceit under its concept of “taqiyya”. He was callingon Arabs to block Jews from "defiling" the Temple Mount by "all means necessary," - clearly understood by the "Arab Street" to mean go out and murder Jews. Last November the PA Supreme Sharia (Islamic law) Judge and Abbas's adviser, said on PA TV that Abbas was indeed "inciting the people in Jerusalem to ribat" and spark a religious war.” . . . “Abbas repeated his call for religious war over the Temple Mount in an open letter to Palestinian Arab students this July.” (Ref. 11)

“The word ribat is derived from the word rabt and it comes in the Qur'an, ‘Arm yourselves against them with all the firepower and cavalry (ribat) you can muster.’ (8:60) And the words of Allah, ‘O you who believe, be steadfast, supreme in steadfastness, be firm (râbitû) on the battlefield, and have fear Allah, so that hopefully you will be successful.’ (3:200)” (Ref. 12)

“If Mr. Abbas is successful in inciting violence through lies, there will be an uprising far bigger than simply another Intifada.
“Mr. Abbas used expressions like ‘Israeli aggression’ against the Palestinian people, their holy places and their homes. He spoke of the ‘executions of children . . . He actually calls terrorists victims and heroes. And the Arabic press backs him up.
“Here are two Arabic press news headlines. The first one reads: ‘Palestinian Child Bleeds to Death While Israeli Police and Civilians Watch, Shouting Insults.’ The second reads: ‘Teen Shot by Israelis Stomped On, Left to Bleed to Death.’
      - - -
     “Israel has no interest in changing the status quo on the Temple Mount. They would like to stop the stone throwing from up there down onto worshippers at the Western Wall. But that’s it. The Israeli government is doing nothing that would even suggest they harbor thoughts about the holy site other than sifting through the refuse that the Waqf (the Muslim religious body responsible for the site) had dug out and dumped into a land fill. (Israel has found some remarkable archeological discoveries in that garbage pile.) {In still more lies, the Waqf denied that it had had illegally removed material from the Temple Mount}
“The office of the Israeli prime minister released a statement saying: ‘Abbas’ speech tonight was filled with incitement and lies. The young boy he referred to is currently hospitalized at Hadassah after he stabbed an Israeli child who was riding his bike.’
“Mr. Netanyahu’s office tried to counter the lies by saying: ‘While Israel protects the status-quo on the Temple Mount, Abbas has used religion to incite more acts of terror.’
“The real proof is in the videos. Surveillance videos up on social media show footage of {the Palestinian boy} and his cousin walking by an intersection and then running back with knives. Each boy is carrying a knife in their right hand and running.
“Palestinian supporters, however, have posted only videos in which the police and Israelis look like murderers. But when you look carefully, the video shows the police holding {the Palestinian boy’s} knife. The hospital says that he suffered injuries but was not shot.
“Interestingly, . . . the 15 year old cousin was shot to death. He is seen in the video {with} knife in raised hand, running across the street lunging at the police as he is shot.
“To achieve his goal of raising a global Muslim outcry against Israel, the Palestinian leader is exploiting sensitive chords that resound throughout the Muslim world. He is suggesting that Jews are taking over the Nobel Sanctuary, aka the Temple Mount, . . . And he is suggesting that Jews are executing children. Abbas is playing right into the ugliest and most dangerous stereotypes in Muslim culture.” (Ref. 10)

Arab and Moslem leaders repeatedly tell innumerable lies, including so-called Big Lies. “The ‘big lie’ is an expression coined by Adolf Hitler to describe his propaganda technique of telling a lie so colossal that no one would believe someone ‘could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.’
      - - -
“Hitler proposed that the big lie is credible because the broad masses are less likely to fall for a small lie. This is due to the fact that they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.
“. . . Hitler understood that the masses saw the world through rose-colored glasses tinted by their own basic honesty and their assumption of that same trait in others.
“Propaganda was the tool Hitler would use to convey the big lie and get the support of the masses. Successful propaganda would speak to their emotions more than to their intellect, be limited to a very few points, and would harp on slogans. He said that the repetition of simple slogans was necessary because the receptivity of the masses is very limited while their power of forgetfulness is enormous.
      - - -
“Hitler's strategy is still working today, just not in Germany. It is the Arab masses that are now being sold the big lie and worked up into a propaganda-fed frenzy. . .
“It is no coincidence that Muslim leaders, such as Iran's supreme leader, have adopted Hitler's strategy. They are propagating the ‘big lie’ of the evil Jews (particularly Israelis), using emotionally charged slogans and anti-Semitic cartoons to get the support of the people, and preparing the way for the final annihilation of Israel.
“Anti-Semitism is now at epic proportions throughout the Muslim world where conspiracy theories run rampant and all types of lies are believed about Israel and the Jewish people. There is no better example of this than in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Palestinian leaders can be heard rejecting any historical connection of the Jewish people to the land of Israel (as chronicled in the Bible and backed up by archeology), denying there was ever a Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount, and claiming Moses and Abraham were Muslims while Jesus was a Palestinian.” (Ref. 13)

To hide the disgrace of their catastrophic defeat by Israel in the Six Days War of 1967, Arab leaders concocted the “Big Lie” that they were defeated only because of the collusion of the United States and Great Britain with Israel. They invented tales of being attacked by British and American aircraft and of American pilots doing the flying in aircraft with Israeli markings. There were Arab claims of the American 6th fleet bombarding Egypt. The “Big Lie” was dreamed up by Egypt’s president Nasser and Jordan’s King Hussein, but was eagerly embraced by the rest of the Arabs. “On June 8, 1967, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) made public a recording of a telephone conversation between Abdel Nasser and Hussein, monitored in Israel at 4:50 on June 6. The recording proved that the collusion idea had been concocted between the two leaders:

“Abdel Nasser: Do you know that the U.S. is participating alongside Israel in the war? Should we announce this? … Should we say that the U.S. and Britain (are participating) or only the U.S?

“Hussein: The U.S. and England.

“Abdel Nasser: Does Britain have aircraft carriers?

“Hussein: (Inaudible)

“Abdel Nasser: Good. King Hussein will make an announcement and I will make an announcement…we will make sure that the Syrians (also) make an announcement that American and British aircraft are using their aircraft carriers against us.” (Ref. 14)

More than 30 years after the “Big Lie” was created, it was still being circulated in the Arab world. The quotation below is taken from an Egyptian high school history textbook that was published in 1999. This fictitious depiction repeated the lies of older textbooks and was subsequently reproduced in new textbooks for lower grades. For more than thirty years, a fabricated narrative of the 1967 war was being transmitted by the Egyptian education system as a fact.

”The United States' role: Israel was not [fighting] on its own in the [1967] war. Hundreds of volunteers, pilots, and military officers with American scientific spying equipment of the most advanced type photographed the Egyptian posts for it [Israel], jammed the Egyptian defense equipment, and transmitted to it the orders of the Egyptian command.” (Ref. 14)

In the Arab world and in the world of Islam, lying is not necessarily perceived as dishonest or immoral. In fact, lying is frequently seen as seen as honorable and justifiable. To advance the goal of Islamic dominance and world-wide supremacy, lying is an accepted tactic – the end justifies the means. With such justification, Arab leaders can readily make agreements one day and disavow them the next day. Case in point – Mahmoud Abbas’ recent disavowal of the Oslo agreement between the Palestinian leadership and Israel. Today’s Arabs and hard-line Moslems have no compunction to lie – they justify their lying by referring to the Koran and the hadiths that came after it. They note that the Koran tells them that Muhammed himself lied and practiced deceit and justified such lying to his followers as being permitted whenever necessary to do so. Couple this religious legitimization of lying with the Arab obsession for saving face and preserving one’s honor and it is clear that one takes an Arab’s or militant Moslem’s word and promises at one’s own peril. Negotiating with these radical Arab and Moslem leaders within the context of western and Judaeo-Christian morality and norms has proven time and time again to be naïve and counterproductive. Trusting in the word or the promises of militant Arab or extremist Moslem leaders can be very dangerous to one’s health. In today’s world, this word of caution has proven to be ever more relevant.
